A Very Fine French 19th Century Louis XV Style Ormolu-Mounted Kingwood and Parquetry Médailler Commode À Vantaux, After a model Designed by the Slodtz Brothers and executed by Antoine Gaudreaux, Circa: 1880

The surmounted by a shaped Peach Griotte d’ Italie marble
top above two central doors, each centered by an oval medallion surrounded by a scrolling ribbon-tied floral frame, on a trellis background, opening to reveal four drawers, the sides each with similar medalion and frame, on four cabriole legs surmounted by rams head, on scrolling feet.

This commode is after the “Commode Médailler” by Antoine Gaudreaux , delivered on 10 January 1739 for the cabinet du Roi At Versailles. It was referred to at the time as ‘Par les Srs. Gaudreaux ébéniste et Slodtz Frèrs, sculpteurs, pour servir dans Le cabinet aux tableaux avant la petit galerie, à Versailles”.

Condition: Excellent. It has been fully refinished and restored.
