A Fine English 18th Century Oil on Canvas "Young Girl with Hat"
School of Thomas Gainsborough in an Ornate Gildwood Frame. Circa: 1790
Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) born in Suffolk, he set up as a portrait
painter at Ipswitch in 1752, but in 1760 he moved to Bath and then in 1774
to London. Although the leading portrait painter of his day he is said to
have declared that while portraiture was his profession, landscape painting
was his pleasure.
