Description:
An Extraordinary "Museum Quality" Mid-19th Century Art-Case Marquerty Grand Piano by John Broadwood & Sons, Serial 16294. Circa: 1845
According to the records supplied by Dr. Alastair Laurence of Broadwood & Sons Pianos Ltd. in London, this very fine marquetry art-case piano with inalid work depicting humming birds, baskets of flowers, butterflies and fruits was hired by Her Majesty Queen Victoria on July 10, 1845 for a four day event at Buckingham Palace, London. The records also indicate that shortly afterwards, on April 29th, 1847, this grand piano was hired again to The Marquess of Abercorn (An English aristocrat). Finally, the last record on file shows that on September 1847 this piano was sold to Captain A. Duncombe, a Naval officer who had become Admiral by 1864. (See documents below)
Condition: Overall condition is excellent. The case and works have been completely refinished and restored. In need of some professional tuning and adjusting.
